After years of speculation, I really thought this was just another tease from both these guys. But finally, yes finally we get to witness this epic matchup (hopefully, it is a good as advertised). Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Even just saying it feels surreal.
Pacquiao is heading to the US in the next few days to start training early, with all the apparent craziness going on in the Philippines. (http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/12388874/manny-pacquiao-arriving-week-early-train-fight-floyd-mayweather-jr) Not sure what Mayweather is doing, possibly training as well. So who will win the fight? The experts weigh in:
Ronda Rousey, "Pacquiao has been very, very nice to me so I'm going to root for him"(http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/02/ronda-rousey-is-rooting-for-manny-pacquiao-against-floyd-mayweather).
Al Bernstein of Showtime, "I used to feel Pacquiao had a pretty good chance of winning the fight, then I decided Floyd Mayweather was more likely to win" (http://www.ibtimes.com/floyd-mayweather-vs-manny-pacquiao-boxing-expert-weighs-who-would-win-epic-fight-1666998).
Kelsey McCarson of Bleacher Report, "Mark me down for being one of the few out there who say Pacquiao will defect Mayweather by decision" (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2371079-mayweather-vs-pacquiao-super-early-expert-picks/page/3).
There will be lots of predictions and analysis over the next few months to build up possibly one of the greatest matchups in this century thus far. What makes this fight remarkable is not only the matchup, but it will have a cross cultural impacts and should get people excited about boxing again. In my opinion, boxing has seemed to wane with the increase of mixed martial arts competitions. However, I am excited to witness this event and I want to see Pacquaio take home the title.
